Starts: Tue 7th May 2024, 10.00 am

Local authorities are under unprecedented financial strain.  In its recent report, the Local Government Information Unit concluded that “The balance has tipped and this report, for the first time, demonstrates how widespread the desperate funding situation for councils is, with more than half of respondents warning that they now face bankruptcy in the next five years if nothing changes.”

One of the authors of that report, Greg Stride (from the LGIU), will take us through the report and the survey findings.  You can read the report here: https://lgiu.org/publication/t...

Dan Bates (from LG Improve) will give further insights into the pressures on local authority finances, using his latest data on balance sheet health.

Finally, Adrian will take us through the latest version of Pixel's MTFP model, and will look ahead to the impact a new government might have on local government funding.

The webinar will follow the usual format, with an hour's presentations followed by 30 minutes of discussion and questions.  A recording of the webinar will be available on the website the following day.
